My name is Ms. Thomas and I'm your Library Media Specialist at Chapel Hill Middle School. This is my fourth year at Chapel Hill but I have over a decade of experience in middle school librarianship. I believe the school library should be a safe and welcoming space for all of our students, and that our library collection should represent the diverse identities of our student population. 

Books and stories provide an opportunity for students to find themselves. They offer a safe environment to learn about difficult topics and to experience conflicts without physical harm. At the library, we encourage student creativity, critical thinking, and expression, and we strive to foster a secure environment in which students feel safe to voice their needs, explore their interests, and engage in free thinking.
